Who can legally marry us in Ontario?
In Ontario, only three types of people can legally solemnize a wedding:
• Religious Officials
• Municipal Clerks (or their designates)
• Judges or Justices of the Peace
Your officiant must have a valid license. There are lots of people out there pretending to be officiants, so always confirm you’re getting what you need!

What kinds of marriages exist in Ontario?
There are two types:
Religious Marriage: Performed by a recognized religious official. Your ceremony can be personal and meaningful, while still following the legal requirements.
Civil Marriage: Performed by a judge, justice of the peace, or municipal clerk, usually at a city hall or municipal office.

Are you licensed?
Yes! By definition above, I am a “Religious Official” with the government-recognized denomination Togetherness Collective. You can verify my name on the Service Ontario religious officiants list! My ceremonies are always personal, genuine, and sprinkled with sparkle — a reflection of your love story.

Do we automatically get a Marriage Certificate?
Not exactly! After your ceremony, I file your completed Marriage License with the Registrar General. You’ll get the tear-off portion, called the Record of Solemnization, on your wedding day — that’s your keepsake!

To get your official Marriage Certificate, you must apply separately to the Registrar General about 6–12 weeks after your wedding. Make sure to check if you need a standard or certified copy.

Who handles the Marriage License?
The couple is responsible for purchasing the license before the wedding. Bring ID for both partners (birth certificates, passports, etc.) to a local City/Municipality Clerk’s Office.

Can we change our names?
All name change questions are handled through the city hall where you bought your license or by contacting the Office of the Registrar General: 1-800-461-2156.

How soon should we book you?
Your officiant is the only must-have for a legal wedding. If you don’t have a ceremony, then you legally do not have a marriage. I recommend booking me as soon as your date and venue is locked in.

What are your fees?
Ceremony fee: $600. Please visit the “Booking information” page for a detailed breakdown of what’s included!

How long will our ceremony be?
Most last about 20-30 minutes, but every ceremony is unique and designed to fit your story.

Can we write our own vows?
Yes, absolutely! I love when couples do this. You’ll read them to each other during the ceremony — such a special moment.

Can we take photos during the ceremony?
Absolutely! No restrictions — capture every magical moment.

What will you wear?
Professional business attire — polished, but approachable. I’ll do my best to match your colour scheme.

What if you can’t make it?
No worries! I’m part of a network of officiants and will work extremely hard to ensure your ceremony is always covered.
